About me...

Danna2024.jpg

As a light brown-skinned female who immigrated from Brazil, Dr. Abraham arrived in the United States to pursue her dreams in higher education. She obtained her English as a Second Language (ESL) status as an adult while adjusting to a culture that was foreign to her. Before becoming an MFT, she worked as a school and medical psychologist in Brazil for several years. Her unique experiences guided her toward her commitments to the community when witnessing how therapeutic practices have the potential to become just another site of oppression if they are used for the sole purpose of decontextualizing suffering. She developed a particular interest in examining what kind of knowledges informed relational practices in education in her journey to become an MFT professor. One of the most important values she carries in her teaching is orienting people to embrace the aspects of education that invite everyone to broaden the ways they think about themselves and others.

She currently works as a professor at Alliant International University at the California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego, Ca.

Mission

At the heart of our mission is a dedication to fostering physical, emotional, and relational connections that empower individuals to live their preferred lives. We strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment where scholars, practitioners, and volunteers collaborate to advance knowledge in the field of systemic family therapy and promote social change.

By engaging in innovative research projects and community-driven initiatives, the RISE Lab aims to challenge existing paradigms, elevate diverse perspectives, and challenge invisible structures to develop a more equitable relational world. Together, we rise to embrace the power of storytelling as a catalyst for personal and collective transformation.

Vision

Our vision is to create a world where storytelling becomes a tool for liberation, where individuals are empowered to rewrite their stories and shape their own destinies. Through our collective efforts, we aspire to build a more just, equitable, and compassionate society, where every voice is heard, and every story matters.
